A very unusual piece indeed.
A stylised human body carved from wood. I would say this piece dates from at least the 1930’s.
It has a certain Metropolis feel about it.
The arms move up and down and there’s a hole in the top where there would have been a head.
The bottom is strangely accentuated and one knee slightly bent.
The round base has at one time been cut to allow the man to stand against a wall. Retaining a well earnt patina and original dark brown paint finish
I think this is possibly a theatrical mold with which to make more the same or simply an artists project.
Whatever it is we love it!
