Offered for sale are an original pair of 1960s cocoon bedside table lamps. Each lampshade is constructed from a metal frame with a detachable cocoon shade. The shade is made of a sprayable rubber coating a technique pioneered by Achille Castiglioni in the early 1950’s. The lamps give a wonderful glow when lit as the shades diffuse the light beautifully.
Its very unusual to find a pair in such good condition
The lamps are in good condition and in full working order and take one small Edison screw (screwfit) bulb each.
These great lamps have clearly been influenced by the cocoon lamp designs by Castiglioni and earlier versions by Nelson, and the Atomic movement. They would make a lovely addition to a modern interior and would work perfectly as bedside table lamps.
